Nutrition was part of my life long before it became my profession. My path to becoming a dietitian wasn't traditional. I started my career as a mechanical engineer and later became a product manager in the tech industry. I enjoyed the challenge, but I kept finding myself drawn back to nutrition. I was always reading research, taking courses, experimenting in my own kitchen, and helping friends navigate their health concerns.

One day, I finally allowed myself to ask: What if? What if it wasn't too late to choose a different path? What if I could align my career with the work I naturally loved doing? What if I could spend my time investing in the people and ideas that I care about most?

Those seemingly inconvenient questions led me back to graduate school, through clinical training, and ultimately to becoming a registered dietitian. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Today, I get to do work that I love. My background in engineering and technology taught me to ask good questions, challenge assumptions, and look closely at the evidence before drawing conclusions. That mindset has stayed with me and shapes how I practice as a dietitian.

What fascinates me most isn't finding the "perfect" way to eat (because, of course, there isn't one). It's understanding what the evidence actually tells us, separating signal from noise, and translating it into practical, realistic steps that fit everyday life.

Whether I'm supporting a family through mealtimes, helping an athlete fuel for performance, or supporting someone living with a chronic condition, I believe meaningful change comes from taking small, consistent steps in the right direction.

I live in Colorado with my daughter, where we spend much of our time with our extended family, exploring the outdoors, or winding down in the evenings with a cup of tea. Nutrition is an important part of our lives, but so are family dinners, holidays, and the beautifully imperfect moments that come with raising a family. I believe food should nourish us, bring us together, and always leave room for joy.
